Attention all Monty Python fans out there! It turns out that Fable III has employed one of the most iconic British comedians of this generation. Mr. John Cleese will be voice acting the butler in the mansion area of the game.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with his work (shame shame!), he is an actor/scriptwriter who found his fame in the 1960’s in the comedy troupe Monty Python’s Flying Circus and the four ensuing films Life of Brian, The Meaning of Life, And Now for Something Completely Different and my personal favorite The Holy Grail. As far as the American film industry goes, he appeared in A Fish Called Wanda, Fierce Creatures, Clockwise, two of the Harry Potter films, two James Bond films, and all three of the Shrek movies (thank you, Wikipedia, for the specifics).
For more information on Cleese’s awesome personal life and impressive career, visit Wikipedia. Or, you can go to thejohncleese.com for his personal blog and podcasts. I plan on playing the game strictly for his character (though the game does look fun regardless).
Meanwhile, CHECK OUT HIS MOVIES! Just do it! His character is a sarcastic British butler and will be funny to most, but you will appreciate it so much more if you are familiar with his personality and history. He is very sarcastic and knocks a lot of political and religious aspects. He is a member of the UK’s Social Democratic Party and supported President Obama during his campaign while criticizing Palin with statements such as “Michael Palin is no longer the funniest Palin” (Michael Palin was also a member of Monty Python, just for a taste of his wit). Cleese’s sense of humor is top notch and will definitely help to hoist Fable 3 to new heights.
