Hello everyone in Glitchy Tasty land. This is your 2011 World Champion Manny, and it's that time of year again. Is it time for me to take a bath? No, not yet.
It's summertime, so that means it's time for an EA basketball game not to come out. Have no fear, however, because I will be doing what I do best: I will make things up.
So sit back and enjoy this article as I make up a review for NBA Elite 12, Glitchy Tasty style.
Earlier today, Mass Effect 3 took center stage at Microsoft's press event to reveal just how it will use Kinect to enhance gameplay. While I was worried initially that it would involve some crazy physical gimmick, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Mass Effect 3 utilizes the microphone within the Kinect sensor, rather than the motion sensor itself. Mass Effect 3 on Xbox 360 will allow players to issue squad commands and even choose dialog options just by speaking. Check it out for yourself in the above video.
Since it's beta release last year, Minecraft has taken the PC world by storm with its emphasis on creativity over graphical fidelity, and a unique aesthetic that screams retro, despite being in 3D. Oh, and the game itself is entertaining as hell.
Get ready to explode, because Minecraft is coming to an Xbox 360 near you, complete with Kinect support. Not much info was given, but I hope they don't censor user-created content because of copyright infringement or... sex stuff. Maybe we should make some Glitchy Tasty content. What do you guys think?
At Microsoft's press conference, Harmonix officially confirmed that Dance Central 2 is on the way for Kinect. The game now has the ability to support two dancers at the same time, as well as the ability to transfer all existing songs from the previous Dance Central. With all of these features, its hard for any dance fans to overlook this game. Stay tuned in as we keep you posted on any new information regarding this title.
Hold on to your plastic muscle shirts, people; Hulk Hogan has a video game coming out for Kinect.
Called Hulk Hogan's Main Event, the game bills itself as the first "performance-based wrestling game", and allows players to emulate "famous Hulk poses" and "more than 30 punishing combos". It's being developed by Panic Button LLC, and published by Majesco.
I'm not too sure what to make of all that, but odds are that there will be little in-ring action, and more Hulk Hogan praising than anything else. If only this was available in 1993...
Microsoft announced today that they are in the process of acquiring Skype for $8.5 billion in cash (most likely found in Bill Gate's couch). Once the acquisition is complete, Microsoft will bring the VOIP and chat app to Xbox Live with Kinect support, as well as other Microsoft devices. Microsoft has stated that they plan to continue to support Skype of non-Windows platforms such as iOS.
It's been a few short months since Kinect launched on US shores in November. In that time, we've seen no less than 3 dance games released for the device (All starting with the word "Dance"), with 2-3 more currently in development. It's no argument that launch title Dance Central is the undisputed king of the motion-based rhythm genre, with phenomenal sales and continued support via DLC.
Along comes Dance Paradise from Smack Down Productions, which attempts to shake up the dance floor by using a "Lane" mechanic similar to Rock Band and Guitar Hero. The end result is a mostly entertaining dance title that misses the beat just a little too much.
It's been rumored for sometime that Epic Games would be putting out a Gears of War title that would use Kinect. It was allegedly going to be announced at the Spike VGA Awards in December, but had to be postponed.
Banished from Space, and frozen in the Antarctica until the hair bands of the 80's caused the ice caps to melt with their excessive use of hair spray, they wreak havoc with their music and genitalia. But thanks to the brave people at Game Informer, the Scumdogs of the Universe now play Kinect.
Yes that's right, GWAR stormed the gates, murdered the villagers, ate the women and played Dance Central and Kinect Adventures. There were few survivors. Those survivors then posted this on the internet for all to see and fear. Unfortunately, Game Informer does not have an embed feature on their media player, so click the link below to see the horror for yourself. Be warned, NSFW!
With Kinect proving to be a success by selling over 1 million units in 10 days, It seems like now's the time for skeptical game devs to jump on board the Kinect train.
The latest rumor would bring Kinect into the hearts and small bedrooms of hardcore gamers, according to IGN. The rumor is that a Kinect based, or at least enabled, Gears of War title may be announced at the Spike TV Video Game Awards.
SO I booted up GTA IV on PC today... and totally forgot I modified the friction values for several things. Fun times were had by all (except by the pedestrians).
