News - PS3

Gran Turismo has been in development forever. You know, it, I know it, and Sony occasionally notices it. However, the game is allegedly on track for release within the next two months, so that's good news. However, series creator and lead designer Kaz Yamauchi had some choice words to say about his system of preference to Esquire Magazine UK (via VG247), claiming that the PS3 had "restrictions" which held some design choices back for GT5.
"Software has to be created under the restriction of the hardware. With each new PlayStation, the vessel has become bigger, but it's still not enough. With Gran Turismo 5, we've made it as clean and beautiful as possible within the confines of the space we're given – but of course there's a lot more that we want to put in."
It makes sense in an obvious way, but I still think it's a little odd to blame a fully capable system for your development-hell game. He can sit there and claim that the PS3 isn't powerful enough, but I'll just go with the tried-and-true scapegoat; poor management.
