(Update) The PSN is officially back online in the United States. PlayStation.Blog has a handy map to let you know the status.
Well it only took 24 days, but it looks like the PlayStation will finally be doing "Online" soon enough. Sony has officially announced through a Riiiiidddggge Racerless Kazuo Hirai video that they will begin restoring service tonight.
The PSN will is staring to roll out across the US right now. In the meantime, you can prepare for the PSN by downloading PS3 firmware update 3.61 (oh firmware updates, you are still not missed). Then, you must reset your password from the PS3 that account was created on. If you no longer have access to that PS3 (like me), then you can reset it through an validated email, however no details have been given about how that will work.
While most of the PSN services are coming back online, the PlayStation store is not. Sony has not given any official word on when we can expect it to return other than "by the end of this month".
