According to Destructoid.com the latest DLC for Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 will be released on October the 5th. The DLC will add a new campaign map 'The Sacrifice', which explains the demise one of the original cast members, and will be released for both games. What is interesting about this is that 'The Sacrifice' DLC for L4D2 brings the original L4D crew into the game and gives you the 'No Mercy' campaign map from the original.
Another note of interest is that this may also be the launch date for Mac support, as Valve has perviously mentioned that 'The Sacrifice' will be out for Mac.
The DLC is thought to be around 500MS points on the Xbox 360 (though you'll have to buy it twice if you want it for both installments of Left 4 Dead), and free for PC and Mac through Stream.
