Harmonix Axes Support for Rock Band and RB2 DLC

Joystiq is reporting that all new DLC for Rock Band 3 will not be backwards compatible with either Rock Band or Rock Band 2. This change in policy apparently went into effect on Rock Band 3's release (October 26). Now before everyone jumps down Harmonix's throat about this, they did offer and explanation to Joystiq, claiming it was "...due to the new authoring standards, inclusion of new instruments, new lighting / venue cues, etc."
While this sucks for anyone who still plays RB or RB2, it makes sense. If you're still reluctant to upgrade to RB3 (which you shouldn't be, cause it's awesome) you at least don't have to worry about accidentally purchasing incompatible songs as they won't show up in older Rock Band Music Stores.
