We've known for a while that Horde Mode would be making a return to Gears of War 3. However, Epic Games has remained mum about what enhancements they would bring to the table. This all changed last night, when they announced Horde 2.0 at their Gears E3 Party. Today I was able to sit in on a demonstration of Horde 2.0, lead by Gear of War 3 executive producer Rod Fergusson.

Gears of War 3 is set to be Microsoft's killer title for this holiday season. As such, Epic is going above and beyond in delivering as much as they can in every mode of the game.

Earlier this month, Xbox gamers felt hunger pangs when Epic and Microsoft closed the Gears of War 3 multiplayer beta. Nearly two weeks later, After the withdrawal finally seceded, they've come back like an awesome girlfriend from a bad break-up and released this amazingly teasy campaign mode reveal trailer. Epic Games has released the first Dev Diary for Gears of War 3. Entitled, "Making Gears 3: Dedicated Execution" it's all about Epic's promise to deliver the best multiplayer experience in Gears 3, with dedicated servers and the Multiplayer Beta. Even if you're not into some of the technical details, there is still plenty of carnage to be seen in this behind-the-scenes look. Also, some of the camera men have ADD, so take a look after the break.

PAX East was filled to the brim with upcoming game releases, of both indie and AAA variety. Of the latter, the highly anticipated Gears of War 3 from Epic Games took the show by storm. Much like everything else, the line stretched around the booth with eager gamers ready to take it for a test drive.

But is Gears 3 the same nerfed experience that turned so many off in the previous game?

Short answer: No. Prepare to use something other than the shotgun.

One of the biggest crowd drawers at GDC last week was the Epic Games both where Cliffy B and Co where showing off what they believe the next gen of gaming graphics should look like. Well almost a week later Epic Games has finally lifted it's embargo on the "Samaritan" demo allowing the general public to drool see it.

(Update) After some clarification we have found out that the Gears of War 3 Beta is not available to the general public. The only way to access it is through Bulletstorm Epic Edition or by Pre-Ordering Gears 3 through GameStop.

Cliffy B and the folks down at Epic Games seem to like giving us Gears news in small, bite-sized chunks. Last week, they announced that the Gears 3 Beta will be available in April. Just today, they gave us the final details of the beta including an actual date, and here they are.

Gameloft has just announced that they have entered into a long-term multiplatform agreement with Epic Games to use the Unreal Engine 3 for upcoming projects. Currently, Gameloft is working on four games using the Unreal Developer Kit, with two scheduled for release in 2011, and two in 2012. No word is given on what these titles will be, but the press release does state that they are developing for iOS, Android, PSN, and Set-top boxes.

In this day and age, video games are a serious business. Once small developers are now big companies trying to make money. The products they turn out are great, but they seem to be missing something. It's like the seriousness of the industry has rubbed off on the games and now they are all...serious. Enter Bulletstorm, developed by People Can Fly and Epic Games. Bulletstorm trades in well disciplined soliders for a group of foul mouth Space pirates, and swaps a gritty, realistic political war for a planet filled with mutants. This is all to remind players that first person shooters can, and used to be, all about having fun. Timesplitters anyone?

But does this formula work? Does Bulletstorm allow us to have fun, or will we be running back to games like Call of Duty for some serious play?
