On Monday, Sony opened up their press conference with what is always a crowd pleaser, Uncharted 3. Naughty Dog's Co-Presidents Even Wells and Christophe Balestra took the stage to show off a new demo of Uncharted 3.
Afterwards, they announced a multiplayer beta launching June 28th, and an exlusive deal though Subway Resturaunts to gain early acces to the full multiplayer component of the game.
The Silent Hill series is one best known for its psychological horror, demented enemies, and downright scary moments. Unfortunately, almost none of that transfers well on the E3 showroom floor.
Still, what I got to play of Silent Hill: Downpour looked to be just as good as any other game in the series. The noise level prevented me from hearing anything, so immersion was a little difficult to achieve. But the visuals and the look and feel of the Otherworld looked pretty cool. Some more hands-on time will make me a true believer of this bold new entry in the series, but for now check out some in-game footage above.
One of the more pleasant experiences to come from Microsoft's press event on Monday was the stage demonstration Square-Enix presented of the upcoming Tomb Raider.
The first thing you'll notice in the video is that Lara Croft is no longer the untouchable badass she once was. Truth be told, it kind of got old fast in previous games to see Lara always on top of every situation, never worried or even bothered by anything. It separated the audience from any sort of real attachment to the character.
Well, not here. Lara is bloodied, beaten, and on a violent run for her very life. Check out the video above and let the wincing begin...
Yesterday Microsoft opened up their press conference with an action-packed gameplay demo of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The previous trailers promised high action and huge set pieces, and this demo delivers. Battling to free the Hudson Bay from the control of the Russian Navy has never looked so good.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is not yet rated. It is being developed by Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, and Raven Software, and is being published by Activision. It is scheduled for released on November 8th, 2011 for Xbox 360, PS3, and Windows PC.
I'm going to be honest; I was about ready to give up on the Call of Duty franchise. After the lackluster game that was Black Ops, and the near-liquidation of Infinity Ward I was losing hope for Activision's star player.
Then I saw the debut gameplay trailer, and holy F*ck! Modern Warfare 3 is WW3. It really looks like they are pulling out all the stops for this one, and I can't wait! Check out the debut gameplay trailer after the break.
This new L.A. Noire gameplay video is all about how we will get to rise through the ranks of the LAPD. This trailer takes an older approach of telling us about the game; while it may seem odd in this day of vague, fast-paced trailers, it does the job well in essentially giving us insight as to what we can expect to accomplish when the game is released on May 17th.
The more I see of L.A. Noire, the more I'm itching to get my grubby little paws on it. The latest trailer only makes the wait seem longer. "Trailer #3" gives us a taste of what you'll run into as Detective Phelps when you reach the Vice Desk at the L.A.P.D. Drugs, corruption, illegal gambling all in a days work. Check out the trailer after the break.
DICE and EA have released episode 3 of the Battlefield 3 Fault Line trailer. This trailer showcases one of the games more intimate moments with some close fist-to-face combat. The graphics in this game continue to stun, as in the last trailer.
It's usually about this time in a consoles' lifespan that I start to envy PC Games. Battlefield 3 is making me cringe at the thought of another four to five years with the current generation of consoles. If it wasn't for the headaches, hand cramps, and empty wallets that are associated with PC gaming I would consider it, but it looks like I'll just have to wait this out. Hit the break to check out the trailer and all it's jaw dropping goodness.
The hype behind Mortal Kombat is truly amazing. Ed Boon and the folks at Netherrealm have done a great job pacing the flow of information that's been released so far. The latest reveal comes in the form of a video trailer showcasing PS3-exclusive character Kratos, as he kicks all kinds of ass in various stages, including one based off God of War 3. Up until now, no details had been given regarding how exactly he'd play, and this video reveals quite a bit. Check it out below, courtesy of Gamespot's Youtube channel.
Ever since Rockstar games finally lifted the veil on L.A. Noire a few months ago, I have been extremely impressed with the Motion Scan technology behind the facial animations. I, like many, was also left wondering exactly how this game would play. Would it simply be like GTA, but from a Cops perspective? Would it still be open world? Basically, I wanted to know what the game consisted of. Well, PAX East was a perfect opportunity to have all these questions answered.
SO I booted up GTA IV on PC today... and totally forgot I modified the friction values for several things. Fun times were had by all (except by the pedestrians).
