Remake

For years, fans have clamored to have Final Fantasy VII on the current generation of consoles. Even when the Playstation 2 was around everyone wanted the game done for that system with the best graphics (obviously) available. Now, in the current life cycle of consoles, fans would like to see the game on Playstation 3 or Xbox 360. This would not be so bad, except for the fact that Square-Enix made a teaser trailer for the Playstation 3 at its launch showing the original introduction to FFVII. This begs the question....why doesn't Square-Enix just go ahead and remake the infamous game? Considering how popular FFVII still is, even though it was released in the United States on the original Playstation way back on September 7th, 1997, I will look into the reasons as to why, and why it should not, be redone with today's technology. Get ready Glitchy Tasty readers, because here we go!

It's official, Halo:Combat Evolved is being remade and released this year and Halo 4 is going to happen in 2012! Not only that but we are getting a full fledged new trilogy beginning with Halo 4 (and taking from where we left off at the end of Halo 3). But the Halo 1 remake (entitled Halo Anniversary) has everything from the original Halo (well only 7 multiplayer maps, and I'm gonna be pissed if Chiron and Boarding Action don't return), a remastered campaign, co-op on xbox live, Reach online play and controls, and they claimed you can also revert to Halo:CE's original style, so I assume it includes the original since its same engine, just looks WAY nicer. So if you're as excited as I am for Halo Anniversary this holiday, and Halo 4 next Holiday, then say so here on GlitchyTasty.com! As a die hard Halo fan, this is the greatest E3 news thus far!

Flying around the internet today is a rumor that piques my interest, though with a guarded heart. Backed by a posting of what appears to be a job offer to an anonymous source from Square-Enix, it would seem that the long-denied Final Fantasy VII remake is due to finally see the light of day - on the NGP, though. Check out the letter below:

Resident Evil 2 is hailed by many as the best game in the series. Nearly everything about the game has become iconic, from the environments and characters, to the musical score that accompanies them. It's a shame Capcom hasn't done a thing with this title, yet seems to enjoy putting out what appears to be yearly ports of Resident Evil 4. However, the most dedicated of fans will get what they desire, even if it means making it themselves.

Joystiq has confirmed though their sources that the previous rumor of a Halo: Combat Evolved remake is true. According to them, this will be a true remake and not an HD port. They mention that the game will use new art assets (textures, character model etc.) and updated controls.

Beyond Good and Evil is a gem of a game. Released on the PS2, it provided an excellent story and fun gameplay, though the sales figures would have you believe otherwise. The eyes of fans sparkled when Ubisoft announced Beyond Good and Evil 2, though the anticipation turned into despair as the title slipped into the unknown, with nothing to go on other than an old CGI trailer set in the desert.

Now, it seems as if Ubi is trying to measure up the anticipation of the apparent vaporware title by offering up an HD remake of the original game. You'll find the trailer for said game after the jump. Please, everyone... buy this HD remake. If that's what it takes to get a sequel, then just do it. You can thank me later.

We'll file this one under, "More Than Likely" and, "Makes Strategic Sense", but scuttlebutt around the industry is that the 2001 smash hit Xbox title Halo (ever hear of it?) is being remade, and it'll release much sooner than you may think.
